Tesla will assemble, distribute vehicles in Holland for European market

Later this month, Tesla Motors will open its European Distribution Center in Tilburg, Holland, and will start stocking the stocking the site with Tesla Roadster and Model S parts as it prepares to start distribution in continental Europe next year.

The 200,000-square-foot factory will support about 50 jobs. Production of the European left-hand-drive versions of the Model S all-electric sedan will start next March. Tilburg is about halfway between Amsterdam to the north and Brussels to the south. Check out Tesla's press release below.

California-based Tesla is looking to ramp up sales of the Model S, which started production earlier this year. The car won the Motor Trend Car of the Year Award last month.

In November, Tesla also announced an increase in the price for the Model S for next year by $2,500 for US customers to a base of $59,900 and a top-end maximum of $94,400. Since no European price had been set for the Model S, anyone in Europe who places an order before the end of the year will get 1,700 euros (or the local currency equivalent, roughly $2,500 US) off that price.

Tesla Motors Announces Major European Distribution Center in the Netherlands

PALO ALTO, California and TILBURG, Netherlands, December 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

New facility will serve as final Model S assembly point, vehicle distribution hub and regional service center

As a key step towards beginning worldwide distribution of Model S, Tesla Motors announced today that it will begin operations this month at its new European Distribution Center in Tilburg, Netherlands. This new facility will serve as Tesla's European service and parts headquarters, as well as the final assembly and distribution point for Model S vehicles sold in Europe. General production of European left-hand drive Model S is planned to begin in March 2013.

Tesla's new 18,900 square meter facility is centrally located to enable efficient, timely and cost effective operations throughout Europe. Starting this month, the new distribution center will begin stocking parts for both the Tesla Roadster and Model S. In addition to parts warehousing, Tesla plans to utilize this facility for vehicle importing operations, final vehicle assembly and distribution, service headquarters, technical training operations, parts remanufacturing, collision repair and more. The new Tesla European Distribution Center will lead to the creation of approximately 50 jobs in the next few years.

Tesla's decision to locate the new European Distribution Center in Tilburg is the result of almost two years of on-going cooperation between Tesla, BOM Foreign Investments, NFIA (Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency), CBRE Group, Inc. and the City of Tilburg.

Ik vind die Model S wel een erg mooie auto. Heb er een paar maanden geleden in gezeten - foto in Rotterdam genomen trouwens:

Ik heb bij LeasePlan gevraagd wat zij gaan doen met deze auto? Ik moet in juli 2013 mijn nieuwe auto hebben maar er is wel wat levertijd op de Tesla heb ik gezien.

Ik had vorig jaar ook al stiekem geïnformeerd, maar helaas toen nog niet leverbaar. $60.000 is nu €42K, wat vergelijkbaar is met - om maar eens iets te noemen - met een Ampera. Dan zou ik het wel weten.

Ik ben er wel vreselijk benieuwd naar. Fisker is 4 persoons en te duur voor mij... Maar als de lease tarieven normaal zijn en 0% bijtelling.....

Mooie wagen. 65K instap is weer aan de prijs. Hoewel het onderhoud op die dingen nihil is. Vriend van mij rijdt in die Tesla roadster. Vrijwel niets slijt aan dat ding. Wellicht een keer de banden. Remmen nauwelijks.

Model X ziet er ook wel leuk uit... Wel nog een jaar wachten.

Ik vind de Fisker iets te veel badmobiel trekken hebben. De Tesla ziet er normaal maar strak uit. En lekker ruim. Ik ben wel benieuwd naar de bouwkwaliteit.
En hoeveel km zou LP maar hier in laten rijden met 75K Km per jaar kan ik er nooit heel lang in rijden.
Misschien een keer met Tilburg bellen?

Tesla is toch Amerikaans? Hoop dat ze rekening houden met Amerikaanse maatjes qua stoelen... ziet er nu nog wat vlak uit.

Tesla is Californisch, net zoals 90% van de klanten. En laten dat nou net vrij dunne Amerikanen zijn. :)

Stoelen zijn goed. Heb er niet in gereden maar wel even achter het stuur gezeten. Interieur is ook wel erg mooi.

Tesla heeft zelf nog heel veel productiecapaciteit, grootste gedeelte van hun fabriek staat leeg op dit moment.

Ik vind het een indrukwekkend apparaat. Niet heel mooi (vooral de neus met de nepgrille niet), maar dat zijn veel concurrenten ook niet, zeker niet op de Amerikaanse markt. Maar de specs zijn goed. Eindelijk een goede en bruikbare elektrische auto. Niet vergeleken met andere EV's, maar gewoon vergeleken met de conventionele concurrenten. Alleen dat stomme dashboard met dat enorme touchscreen lijkt mij verschrikkelijk. Even op de tast de airco een graadje lager zetten ofzo kan niet. Irritant en gevaarlijk.

Voorlopig is de Tesla niet toegestaan bij uw werkgever omdat dit een 100% Electrische auto is.
Tevens komt u met uw kilometrage niet aanmerking voor een Electrische auto.

Beide argumenten zijn toch bijzonder? Een 100% EV mogen wij niet leasen?
En omdat je veel rijdt mag het ook niet. Dan is de milieu opbrengst toch extra hoog?

Nou ja dan wordt het dus een 320D of misschien een 520D afhankelijk van de leasewaardes in april.
